Trying to hollow out a half Sphere shaped bld.
New User here - I love the tool.
Have built a bunch of blds for my unity projects now, but all are based on squares and even cylinders so far. I've got one now I designed that is actually a multistory bld based on a 1/2 sphere. I just I can't get my head around the right 2D objects for some reason. I can't use a cylinder as I want the top to close in as a sphere does, created smaller floors. So I use circle, hollow it out with another slightly smaller to make the walls then try to cut the sphere in half with a rectangle - just won't work with the lathe but can't use the extrude, as I want a sphere, not a cylinder. Is there just a much easier way here or something i'm missing. Keep trying to use the sweep that that is a bust, as it goes in 2 directions... so hum. Got to be a way here to create a half sphere extrude somehow. I've tried several totally different ways, including using half circles per floor but that doesn't work either as the bevel I need to make it nice messes the alignment - basically I want to create a half sphere building with a flat front 🙂
Maybe such a newbie question on this but could use a hand. I've attached my not working one with the lathe here and my bld designs so you can see what I'm attempting.

I can create a nice "basket" but no can do cutting it the way I'm trying to cut it so far. If I push it too far on the cut to make it a full cut for a 1/2 sphere it starts making different cuts thru the sphere so it will not give me a half sphere. And then I'm tying to make a flat wall in the front. See the bld drawings, 1/2 sphere with a flat surface at the cut as the outer wall entrance - inside hollow so I can add 5 floors to it and an elevator middle front up the flat side. So just hum, love a bit of help! Thank you, learning - my guess is i'm thinking about it wrong.

That worked almost but i can't get the bottom to behave. I would have thought the sweep angle would cut the bottom at the 180. I've tried the settings bottom cap, lip bottom, lip edge I can't control how far that bottom "floor" if you will juts out. Is there some parameter to control that part? I want the floor but only to the 180 point.

First, something is wrong with your Bottom Cap. It should not be giving you an integer or float number option, it should be a boolean toggle like Top Cap. You may need to replace that Lathe node….
Second, you will want to create separate Extrude walls to fit under the dome. See the same tutorial where I describe the Skillion end cap (page 29).
Yes I replaced the node, thanks, odd , fixed now.
Looking at 29 again for the front entry flat wall at the 180 degree. Still can't figure out what the 2 D shapes should be maybe sector union dome.
Will keep trying - hours on this one wall so kind of Yikes!

One final question on this. There are dark areas popping in the mesh at the bottom of the dome as soon as I use the sweep angle to cut it to anything - i'm using 180.
See the images. I have noticed that if I enable or disable continuousU it changes, disabled its 2 small parts on either side of the 180 cut, enabled it a full ring around the bottom of the dome. This is super shinny in play mode so something is wrong there. I cannot get that to go away no matter what I do if I use a sweep angle. See my images. Any reason for this? The inset floors have no impact on this.
